Pune News : Proposed plan to revamp Pune railway station presented

After nearly nine decades, Pune Railway Station will undergo a makeover. Naresh Lalwani, general manager of Central Railway, presented the preliminary proposal during a recent review meeting.

A private architect has been hired by the Railway Board to create a “3-D” layout of the train station. Lalwani, the general manager of Central Railway, recently visited the station in Pune. At that time, this draft plan was given.
It is proposed to be built on both sides of the station, covering a total area of 5 lakh 403 square metres. The station’s current “historic” building will be kept, and a new structure will be built adjacent to it. Separate arrival and exit facilities would be offered to those leaving, preventing traffic congestion here.

“Naresh Lalwani, general manager of Central Railway had a survey of Pune station and presented a preliminary proposal for a new structure of Pune railway station. After the procedure is completed work will start soon” – Manoj Jhawar, public relations officer for Central Railway’s Pune Division.
