Pune: To ease the movement of passengers coming to the railway station, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has created a separate path called a freeway. Currently, there are several barricades at Pune Railway Station to ease the movement of passengers.

Giving more information, Dr Ramdas Bhise, Divisional Commercial Manager & PRO, Central Railways said, ” The decision to create a separate path called freeway was made due to the high volume of traffic at the station and the overcrowding of platforms. There is a large number of people with their luggage at the railway station which hampers the smooth movement of other passengers. Thus, the freeway will help passengers access the platforms bypassing the crowds and reach their respective platforms without any hassle.”

He further added that the passengers who are coming out of the station will also benefit as the passengers will directly reach the pick-up and drop-off points.

As per information, the freeway is built around the Umbrella Gate (Entrance Gate) to the Main Gate (Porch Area) of Pune Station till platform number 1.
