Pune News: Rare Comet C/2023 A3 Captured By 19-Year-Old AstrophotographerÂ

Comet C/2023 A3, discovered in early 2023 by the Tsuchinshan Observatory in China and the ATLAS survey, has become a captivating celestial object for astronomers worldwide. Known for its striking tail and bright nucleus, the comet is currently approaching perihelion, and its visibility is expected to increase, offering a stunning sight for skywatchers.
Aniruddha Deshpande from Jyotirvidya Pratishthan, Pune commented that it is visible through binocular on the South Eastern Part of Pune city around 5.15 a.m. In the early morning sky coma is visible if there are no clouds through unaided eyes. It will be more clearer after 12 October in western sky after Sunset. When comet will appear after perihelion. It is a rare occassion, as there haven’t been any sighting of unaided eye visible comet in the last many months. Photographers have captured the comet beautifully from various locations across Pune. It is indeed a great sight for sky watchers and researchers.
“Among those capturing this rare comet is 19-year-old astrophotographer Prathamesh Jaju from Pune. His remarkable images of Comet C/2023 A3 have gained recognition in the astrophotography community, showcasing his talent and dedication to documenting astronomical events,” said Akash Bhilare, a structural engineer.Â
