Land Acquisition for Purandar Airport to Begin Soon: Uday Samant
State government set to accelerate Purandar airport land acquisition under MIDC
State industries minister Uday Samant announced that the land acquisition process for the Purandar airport project will soon commence under the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC). Samant emphasized the importance of the project for the development of the state, particularly for the city of Pune, and revealed that the government is working in coordination with MIDC to expedite the process.
“In the next three to four days, minister of state for civil aviation Murlidhar Mohol and I will hold a detailed meeting on land acquisition. Within the next eight days, we will finalize a model for the project and subsequently begin the acquisition,” Samant stated during his visit to Pune.
The Purandar airport project, which has been in the pipeline for several years, aims to ease congestion at Pune’s existing airport and accommodate the city’s growing infrastructure needs. The airport is expected to significantly boost trade, tourism, and employment in the region, positioning Pune for future growth as a major IT, manufacturing and educational hub.
In a related note, Samant briefly touched on the upcoming state assembly elections, stating that discussions about seat-sharing within the Mahayuti alliance, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, are ongoing.
