Pune News: Residents Raise Concerns Over Cement Truck Parking And Dust Pollution In Tathawade
Pune, Tathawade: Residents of the Tathawade area have voiced their concerns over the increasing number of cement trucks parked in their neighborhood, leading to severe dust pollution and safety hazards. Despite raising the issue earlier on August 2, 2024, no action has been taken so far.
The residents have written an email to the PCMC Commissioner, Environment department, Wakad and Hinjawadi police officials too but have not responded to the complaint yet.
According to residents, 20-30 cement trucks are being parked daily on public roads, with operators using the space as a transfer point to shift cement from large trucks to smaller ones. This activity has resulted in excessive dust accumulation, making it difficult for locals to breathe and maintain cleanliness in their homes.
Efforts to address the problem have been met with little success. The PCMC cleaning department was approached for assistance, but frequent truck movement has made it challenging to keep the roads clean.
“The dust pollution is affecting the health of children and elderly residents, causing respiratory issues and allergies,” a resident said. The community is urging authorities to take immediate steps to regulate truck parking and implement dust control measures to ensure a safer and healthier environment.
Residents now await a prompt response from the authorities to mitigate the growing problem.
