Pune News: Sinhagad RoadĀ Businessman Lured And Robbed Via Dating App Connection; Accused Arrested
Pune: A businessman fell victim to a robbery after establishing a connection on a dating app. The victim was lured to an isolated area in Dhayari, where he was robbed at knifepoint. Nanded City Police investigated the case and apprehended an 18-year-old accused, Bharat Kisan Dhindale, along with three minor accomplices.
According to the police, the incident occurred on January 14 around 8 p.m. near a school in the DSK Vishwa area of Dhayari. The businessman had connected with the accused on a dating app, where Dhindale gained his trust and invited him to meet in person. Upon arrival, the victim was confronted by Dhindale and his accomplices, who threatened him with weapons and looted valuables, including gold earrings, a mobile phone, and cash, before fleeing the scene.
Frightened by the ordeal, the businessman reported the incident to Nanded City Police. Meanwhile, reports of increasing robberies in the DSK Vishwa area were circulating on social media, prompting the police to increase patrolling.
During one such patrol, officers Purushottam Gunla and Akshay Jadhav noticed Dhindale in the area and apprehended him after laying a trap. Upon interrogation, Dhindale and his accomplices admitted to robbing the businessman.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police Sambhaji Kadam and Assistant Commissioner Bhausaheb Patare, with senior inspector Atul Bhos, sub-inspector Shivaji Bunge, and their team playing key roles in solving the case.
