Pune, June 16, 2026: In an effort to strengthen coordination between the business community and the police administration, Pune City Police organized a Traders’ Dialogue Meeting at Bird Valley on Sun City Road on June 15, 2026.

The meeting was held under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Dr. Sagar Kawade and was attended by Assistant Commissioner of Police (Sinhagad Road Division) Vijay Kumbhar, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Kothrud Division) Sujata Tanawade, and Senior Police Inspectors from all police stations under Zone III.

A large number of traders from the jurisdictions of Sinhagad Road, Nanded City, Narhe, Kothrud, Warje, Uttamnagar, and Alankar Police Stations participated in the meeting. Among those present were Sachin Nivangune (President, Vyapari Sanghatana Maharashtra), Navnath Somase (Nanded City), Bhavana Thorat (Narhe), Rambhau Dodke (Warje), Sarang Raykar (Uttamnagar), Mangilal Chaudhary (Alankar), Kumar Khatri (Sinhagad Road), along with representatives from various traders’ associations, jewellers, garage owners, and business establishments.

During the interaction, traders raised several concerns related to business security, traffic management, law and order, cybercrime prevention, effective use of CCTV surveillance, online frauds, and security arrangements during festivals and public events. They also highlighted issues such as harassment by anti-social elements, delays caused by metro, pipeline and drainage works, inconvenience caused to citizens due to ongoing infrastructure projects, movement of heavy vehicles, traffic congestion and parking problems due to unauthorized hawkers, noise pollution from loudspeakers used by vegetable vendors, obstruction by head-load workers (Mathadi workers), and collection of donations by various organizations.

Addressing the gathering, DCP Dr. Sagar Kawade emphasized the need for stronger coordination between traders and the police administration. He assured participants that the concerns and grievances raised during the meeting would be examined and appropriate action would be taken. He also urged traders to immediately inform the police about any suspicious individuals or activities.

Special emphasis was laid on enhancing business security through the installation of high-quality CCTV cameras outside shops and commercial establishments. Traders were also encouraged to promptly contact police officials if they faced any form of disturbance or security concern.

To improve communication and facilitate quicker resolution of issues, instructions were issued to create dedicated WhatsApp groups for traders at the police station level. Senior Police Inspectors were also directed to organize regular trader-police interaction meetings in their respective jurisdictions.

Around 80 to 100 traders attended the meeting and welcomed the initiative. Participants expressed their willingness to continue cooperating with the police administration and appreciated the platform for open discussion and problem-solving.

The meeting was conducted under the guidance of Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Sanjay Darade, Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajesh Bansode, DCP Zone III Dr. Sagar Kawade, ACP Vijay Kumbhar, ACP Sujata Tanawade, and was coordinated by Senior Police Inspector Vinay Patankar of Sinhagad Road Police Station. Senior officers from Warje, Uttamnagar, Alankar, Nanded City, Narhe Police Stations, along with personnel from the Special Branch and Local Intelligence Units of Zone III, were also present.
