Six people were detained by the Pimpri-Chinchwad police on Sunday for allegedly printing and distributing ₹70,000 worth of denomination of ₹ 500 notes.

Ruhtik Chandramnani Khadse, Suraj Yadav, Akash Dhangekar, Suyog Salunkhe, Tejas Ballal, and Pravan Gahvane are the names of the accused.

The Dehu Road police said that Ballal was in charge of organizing raw materials and printing the fake notes, Yadav was involved in design, Salunkhe operated a machine, and Khadse had earned his IT diploma and was in charge of delivering counterfeit currency. Following a tip, police set up a trap, captured Khadse, and his confession prompted the arrest of additional people on Sunday and Monday.

A senior Dehu Road police officer said that the accused arranged for raw materials to be sourced from multiple locations and bought a used printing machine from Appa Balwant Chowk. Seized items totaling ₹2 lakh include a printing press and raw materials.

The Indian Penal Code (IPC) has Section 489 (c) (possession of forged or counterfeit currency or banknotes) and Section 34 filed against the accused.
