Pune, October 15, 2024: The Pune Rural Police have arrested a gang of three men accused of a series of kidnappings and robberies targeting users of a dating app. According to police officials, the suspects lured victims into meetings under false pretenses, then executed coordinated attacks to rob and abduct them. The gang was apprehended following a kidnapping incident reported at the Shikarpur police station.

The suspects have been identified as Sushant Nagare (25), Mayur Gaikwad (24), both from Ahmednagar district, and Shreyas Angre (24) from Sambhajinagar. Pankaj Deshmukh, the Superintendent of Police for Pune Rural, stated, “During the investigation of a kidnapping case, we uncovered a gang operating from Ahmednagar that targeted dating app users by threatening and robbing them.”

The investigation began after a victim was abducted on October 10 from Jai Malhar Khanawal in Shikrapur. The suspects allegedly approached him, asking for directions to Mumbai, then forcibly pulled him into their vehicle. They assaulted him and stole his valuables, including his mobile phone. The victim managed to escape when the gang stopped for water. Police have linked the suspects to at least five similar cases in the region and urged the public to report any related incidents promptly.
