PMPML to fine ₹500 instead of ₹300 if caught travelling without ticket

Pune: Starting from March 10, 2023, passengers caught traveling without a ticket on Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) buses will be fined ₹500 instead of the previous ₹300. This decision was approved by the PMPML Board of Directors on February 16, 2023, and the Chief Transport Manager (Operation) has issued a notice to this effect.

According to Section No. 178 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988, the previous fine for traveling without a ticket was ₹300. However, in order to prevent financial loss to the Corporation and discourage passengers from traveling without tickets, the fine has been increased to ₹500.

Passengers caught misusing a discount pass will also be fined ₹500. The fine for this offense remains unchanged.
The PMPML has taken this step to deter passengers from traveling without tickets and to promote compliance with the law. The Corporation hopes that this move will also help increase revenue and reduce losses.
