Pune, June 16, 2026: Residents of Wadachi Wadi in Undri have lodged a complaint with the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB), alleging severe dust pollution from stone crusher units operating in close proximity to residential areas and a school.
In a written representation submitted to the Regional Officer of MPCB, Pune, local residents stated that they have been living in the area for the past 12 to 13 years and have witnessed a significant increase in pollution over the last two years following the establishment of multiple stone crusher units.
According to the complaint, Vatsalya School, located within approximately 200 metres of the crusher units, is attended by nearly 400 to 500 students daily. Residents have expressed concern that dust generated by the crushing operations is spreading into nearby homes, school premises, courtyards, and even drinking water sources.

The complainants alleged that the dust pollution is adversely affecting the health of both students and residents, causing respiratory ailments, eye irritation, and other health-related issues. They also warned that the continued operation of the crushers is contributing to environmental degradation in the locality.
Residents have urged the MPCB to conduct an immediate inspection of the stone crusher units, verify whether they are complying with applicable pollution control norms and environmental regulations, and initiate appropriate action in case of violations.
The complaint, signed by several local residents, was submitted along with photographs and videos purportedly documenting the extent of dust pollution in the area.
The residents have appealed for urgent intervention by the pollution control authorities to safeguard public health and ensure a safe environment for children and families living in the vicinity.
