Pune: NIBM Road Residents, Police And PMC Join Hands To Resolve Road And Traffic IssuesÂ
On November 26, 2024, residents of NIBM Road, Kondhwa, NIBM Undri road alongwith civic authorities, and police officials came together to address the longstanding traffic and road issues plaguing the area, marking a pivotal moment of collaboration and progress.
For years, those living in and traveling through Palace Orchard Society, Runwal Diamond Complex, and surrounding neighborhoods had faced significant challenges—uneven roads, perilous slopes, and unorganized traffic flow. However, this meeting signaled a turning point, setting the stage for meaningful change.
The meeting, organized by Pravin Patil, was supported by Chetan Vitthal Tupe and Nanda Lonkar, with strong backing from the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leadership. The initiative was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar. Adding further weight to the proceedings were Additional Commissioner of Police Manoj Patil and Chief Engineer of the Road Department, Aniruddha Pawaskar.

The meeting tackled a detailed agenda as residents voiced their concerns and sought actionable solutions. Key points discussed and resolutions promised included:
- Gradient Slope Reduction at Palace Orchard Society: The steep and hazardous slope outside Palace Orchard Society would undergo survey and reconstruction, with a commitment to complete the project before the next monsoon season.
- CCTV Surveillance for Heavy Vehicles: Cameras would be installed to monitor and penalize heavy vehicles illegally dumping debris, protecting road quality and ensuring safety.
- Relocation of Road Chambers: Hazardously placed manholes and chambers would be moved to improve road usability and traffic flow.
- Enhanced Lighting: Plans were made to install proper lighting along dark stretches, ensuring safety for commuters and pedestrians.
- Chowk Development: The junction near Runwal Diamond Complex, California Society, and Palace Orchard Society would be restructured as a central landmark, easing traffic and beautifying the area.
- Traffic Solutions at Baker’s Point Chowk: Effective strategies were outlined to reduce congestion at this busy intersection.
- Construction of a Pedestrian Footpath: A footpath would be constructed along one side of the road to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility.
- Other Road Enhancements: Additional infrastructural improvements, as highlighted by the residents, were also included in the actionable list.
The collaborative spirit of the meeting stood out. Residents openly shared their grievances while officials and leaders listened with patience and empathy, offering practical solutions. Patil and Pawaskar reassured the community that efforts would begin immediately, with regular updates shared on progress.
Special thanks were extended to Pravin Patil for organizing the initial gathering at his residence and facilitating a follow-up discussion at the Clover Pinnacle clubhouse.
