Pune: Okayama Delegation Visits Pu. La. Deshpande Garden to Mark Two Decades of Indo-Japanese Friendship
Pune, January 7, 2026: On the occasion of the completion of two decades since the creation of the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Late Pu. La. Deshpande Garden (Pune–Okayama Friendship Garden), a delegation from Okayama, Japan, paid a goodwill visit to the garden on January 7, 2026, at 10:00 am. The programme was held in the presence of Pavneet Kaur, Additional Municipal Commissioner (General). Members of the Okayama delegation were present for the event.
In the presence of the Okayama delegation, representatives of the Association of Friends of Japan, and officials and employees of the Pune Municipal Corporation, the completion of 20 years of the garden was celebrated by cutting a cake within the garden premises.
Subsequently, all representatives of the Okayama delegation were formally welcomed at the office of the Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, Pune Municipal Corporation, where Mr. Naval Kishore Ram, Municipal Commissioner and Administrator, felicitated them with mementoes. The event was attended by Ms. Pavneet Kaur, Additional Municipal Commissioner (General), Mr. Omprakash Divte, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Special), Ms. Yogita Bhosale, City Secretary, PMC, Dr. Ashok Ghorpade, Deputy Municipal Commissioner, and Mr. Sameer Khale, President, Association of Friends of Japan.
