Pune: Responding to multiple complaints and media reports about the poor maintenance of Omkareshwar Ghat, Member of Parliament Dr. Medha Kulkarni has announced a cleanliness drive and allocated funds for improvements. Officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted an inspection to assess the deteriorating conditions at the site.

The Dashkriya Vidhi site, platforms, water tanks, and the memorial of Late Gangadhar Kelkar near the riverbank were found to be in an unhygienic state. The area has also become a gathering spot for beggars and addicts, raising concerns among locals. To restore the site’s sanctity and improve its condition, it has been decided to implement necessary upgrades, which will be funded through the MP’s special development fund.

As part of the initiative, an inspection was carried out by Kasba Vishrambagwada Regional Officer Suhas Jadhav, Assistant Engineer of the Public Works Department Tejashree Deshmukh, and Dashkriya Ghat priests Atharva Moghe and Pinat Moghe, along with other officials. Discussions were held to plan immediate and long-term measures for the upkeep of the ghat.
