In Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, cabs and autorickshaws run by app-based cab companies may go on a strike starting today, March 5.

As per further information shared by Dr Keshav Kshirsagar, President, Baghtoy Rickshawala Association “The administration has a special love for online cab companies, which flouts the orders and rules of the Supreme Court, the Central Government, the Motor Vehicle Act, the State Government, the Collector. They can do business without any problem but if we protest against the injustice done to us, they will deny permission.”

Dr Keshav Kshirsagar further said “We had earlier applied for a one-day protest in front of Pune RTO, permission was denied there citing traffic disruption. After that, there is a place designated for the protest behind the collector’s office i.e. the ground, if an application was made to protest there, the protest was rejected on the grounds that there was 10th-12th examination. Even during the Covid period, when we did many agitations to get subsidies, permission was not denied to the agitation, but now they are denying permission to avoid exposing the theft of companies.”

Dr Keshav Kshirsagar further shares “If we say allow silent protest, then also it is denied. But there is no rule for illegal Ola Uber and other companies. Even in the meeting with the Collector, no action was taken against the companies, only an assurance was given that legal action would be taken against them soon. But now the question is for how many days only dates & assurances will be given?”

Dr Keshav Kshirsagar further shares that why don’t the authorities dare to take action against the companies that flout all the rules and defy the Supreme Court on a daily basis? What is this? So, even though the planned agitation, demonstrations cannot be held, all app-based cabs and rickshaws services will remain closed indefinitely from 7 am.
