Pune Passport Office Shift: Mundhwa Centre Relocates to Pashan from March 31, What Applicants Need to Know
The Mundhwa Passport Seva Kendra is relocating to Baner–Pashan Link Road, sparking both relief and concern among residents
Pune’s Passport Seva Kendra at Mundhwa is set to shift to a new location in Pashan by the end of March, bringing a major change for passport applicants across the city.
When The Shift Takes Effect
The relocation will come into effect from March 30–31. Applicants who have appointments scheduled on or after this date will need to visit the new office instead of the Mundhwa centre.
Old Vs New Address
The current office at Mundhwa has been operating from:
Zero One Building, Survey No. 78/2, Ghorpadi-Mundhwa Road, Pingle Vasti, opposite Ganga Orchid, Pune 411036
The new office will function from:
Monteverde Building, Survey No. 234/2, Part MP-3, Commercial First Floor, Office Nos. 102 and 103, Baner-Pashan Link Road, Pashan, Pune 411021
Who Benefits From The Move
Residents in western parts of Pune—including Baner, Aundh, Hinjawadi, Balewadi, Pimpri, and Chinchwad—are expected to benefit from improved accessibility and reduced travel time.
Concerns From East Pune Residents
However, the decision has raised concerns among those living in areas like Hadapsar, Kharadi, Viman Nagar, Koregaon Park, and Kondhwa. For many of them, the new location could significantly increase travel time, especially during peak traffic hours.
Accessibility Challenges Highlighted
The Mundhwa centre has long served professionals, students, and business travellers from Pune’s eastern IT and residential hubs. Critics argue that shifting the facility to Pashan may make access more difficult for a large section of users who depend on timely passport services.
Calls For Dual Centres
Some experts have suggested that instead of relocating the office entirely, authorities should consider operating two centres—one in Mundhwa and another in Pashan—to balance accessibility across the city.
What Applicants Should Do
Those with upcoming appointments should carefully check their booking date and ensure they visit the correct location. Reaching the wrong centre could lead to delays or missed appointments.
The Bottom Line
While the shift improves access for western Pune, it also highlights the growing need for better infrastructure planning in a rapidly expanding city.
