Pune, March 30, 2026: In a shocking incident reported from the Dehugaon area, a man allegedly attempted to set his relative’s house on fire using petrol bomb-like objects, putting an entire family’s life at risk over a long-standing ancestral land dispute.

According to police, the incident occurred in the early hours of March 29, around 3:00 am, near Hanuman Temple in the Shivaji Chowk area. The complainant, Sunil Pandharinath Kalokhe (74), was asleep at home with his family when the accused, Sudam Kisan Kalokhe (62), launched the attack.

Police officials stated that the accused, reportedly angered over a land partition dispute, first broke the glass windows of the dining room and kitchen. He then allegedly threw bottles filled with petrol and attached with flammable materials, resembling crude petrol bombs, into the house. He also attempted to ignite the house using burning wooden sticks.

The incident posed a serious threat to the lives of the entire family, with the possibility of a major tragedy narrowly averted. The attack has created panic among residents in the locality.

A case has been registered at Dehu Road Police Station invoking relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Sections 109(1), 326(G), and 324(2).

The accused is currently absconding, and a search operation is underway. Further investigation is being carried out under the guidance of Police Inspector Jankar.
