Pune, July 4, 2025: A man was seriously injured after being attacked by a Pitbull near Somji Petrol Pump, opposite Capricorn Green Park in Kondhwa on Tuesday.

According to eyewitnesses, the dog suddenly lunged at the man while he was walking by. In a viral video of the incident, the victim is seen with his hand inside the Pitbull’s mouth as two men try to rescue him. One person is seen hitting the dog with a rod while another throws water on it, but the dog refuses to let go. Eventually, the dog releases its grip after being hit repeatedly.

In another video, the injured man is seen with a bloodied hand as he is taken to the hospital on a two-wheeler by locals.

Residents expressed deep concern over such attacks, urging authorities to act strictly against owners keeping aggressive breeds without proper safety measures. They highlighted the dangers posed by ferocious dogs in public areas.

It may be noted that in 2024, the central government imposed a nationwide ban on the import, sale, and breeding of 23 “ferocious” dog breeds, including Pitbulls, citing public safety concerns, especially for children and senior citizens.

More details about the victim’s condition and police action are awaited.
