Pune: In response to the poor quality of a pillar that had to be demolished because it did not adhere to the required standards, Vikram Kumar, Pune Municipal Commissioner has handed a show-cause notice to the contractor of the Sinhagad Road flyover.

As per the information, although a show cause notice has been delivered to the contractor, a report on the complete project will be provided to the commissioner soon.

Earlier, the PMC periodically evaluated the contracting company’s output. The Sinhagad flyover project has undergone almost 1,200 inspections. Ten of them from Vitthalwadi to the Santosh Hall Chowk were checked. It was discovered that a pillar in Hingane had ‘M30’ cement grade rather than the necessary ‘M35’.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ajaykumar Wayse, Executive Engineer, PMC said, “A show cause notice is given to the contractor regarding the construction work of Sinhagad Road flyover. The work is going well, however, due to various reasons such as poor-quality pillars and more, the proposed deadline & completion of the work have been delayed. The work will be completed by 2025. However, we are trying to expedite the remaining work so that the flyover will be completed soon.”

Pune Pulse tried to contact the contractor of the project but couldn’t connect till the report was filed.
