Pune: PMC Extends ‘Abhay Scheme’ Deadline To March 15, 2026, Offers 75% Interest Waiver On Property Tax Dues

The Tax Assessment and Collection Department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has announced an extension of its popular “Abhay Scheme” for property tax defaulters, granting citizens more time to clear their outstanding dues with major financial relief. The scheme will now remain in force until March 15, 2026, according to an official press note issued on Thursday.
Under the Abhay Scheme, taxpayers are offered a 75 percent waiver on the interest amount levied on pending property tax arrears, making it a significant opportunity for defaulters to regularise their dues at a reduced financial burden. The initiative aims to improve tax compliance while providing relief to citizens burdened by accumulated interest on unpaid taxes.
The scheme was originally implemented from November 15, 2025, to January 15, 2026. Considering the positive response from citizens, PMC had earlier extended the deadline from January 16, 2026, to February 15, 2026. Following further requests from elected members and residents, the civic body has now granted a final extension till March 15, 2026.
The PMC administration has appealed to all property tax defaulters within its jurisdiction to voluntarily take advantage of the extended deadline and clear their pending taxes. Officials have emphasized that timely participation in the scheme will not only benefit citizens financially but will also strengthen the municipal corporation’s revenue base, enabling better delivery of civic services and infrastructure development across the city.
Deputy Commissioner and Head of the Tax Assessment and Collection Department, Ravi Pawar, urged citizens to cooperate with the municipal administration by utilizing the scheme and settling their dues within the extended timeframe.
