Pune, April 17, 2026: In a relief to registered and rehabilitated hawkers, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s Standing Committee has approved an extension for renewing registration certificates and paying license fees.
The earlier deadline of April 15, 2026, has been extended after many hawkers were unable to complete the renewal process within the stipulated time due to various challenges. The decision was taken based on a proposal submitted by the Municipal Secretary’s office.
Standing Committee Chairman Shrinath Bhimale stated that additional time has also been granted for payment of license fees, ensuring that hawkers are not penalised due to delays. The move is aimed at easing compliance and supporting their livelihoods.
Civic officials clarified that the decision was taken keeping in mind the financial and operational difficulties faced by hawkers. The administration is also expected to issue guidelines to make the renewal process smoother and more accessible.
Authorities have urged hawkers to utilise the extended deadline and complete their registration renewal and fee payment at the earliest to avoid further complications.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, the civic body has formed a joint committee comprising Standing Committee members and senior officials to explore ways to boost municipal revenue. The committee will focus on improving tax collection, recovering pending dues, identifying new revenue streams, and reviewing financial strategies for the upcoming fiscal year, for which a budget of ₹15,669 crore has already been approved.
