Pune: PMC Fines Goel Ganga Developments ₹1 Lakh For Discharging Construction Water Into Stormwater Drain
Pune, July 17, 2026: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a notice to Goyal Ganga Developments, imposing a ₹1 lakh penalty for allegedly discharging water accumulated at its construction site into the city’s stormwater drainage line and onto a public road without obtaining the necessary permission.
The notice has been issued by Assistant Municipal Commissioner Bhaskar Mahadik, Health Inspector Santosh Tatkar, and Senior Health Inspector Sunil Tanwar of the Dhole Patil Regional Office. under Ward No. 14, following complaints from residents about unhygienic conditions in the area.

According to the notice, officials found during an inspection that water collected in excavation pits at the developer’s ongoing construction site was being released into the PMC’s stormwater drainage network and on to the adjoining public road without authorisation.
PMC stated that the discharge of construction water has created unhealthy and unsanitary conditions in the locality, prompting several complaints from nearby residents.
The civic body also warned that such unauthorised discharge could choke the stormwater drainage system during the monsoon, resulting in the overflow of contaminated water onto public roads and creating serious public health risks.
The notice states that creating conditions detrimental to public health is an offence under the Maharashtra Municipal Corporations Act, 1949.
Accordingly, PMC has levied an penalty of ₹1,00,000 on Goyal Ganga Developments and directed the developer to pay the fine within two days of receiving the notice at the Dhole Patil Regional Office on Dhole Patil Road, Pune, and obtain the official payment receipt.
The notice has been issued by the Dhole Patil Road Regional Ward Office.
