Due to stalled land acquisition in densely populated areas for Katraj-Kondhwa road, the work of the road there is also at a standstill. Rs 200 crore announced by the state government is yet to be received by the municipal corporation. Therefore, the Municipal Corporation itself has allocated 74 crores for land acquisition and 45 crores for road work in the budget of 119 crores.

There is a lot of heavy vehicle traffic on the Katraj-Kondhwa road. There is always a traffic jam on this road. For this, the Municipal Corporation started the work of widening the 3.5 km road from Katraj to Khadi Machine Chowk by 84 meters in 2018.

The work was expected to be completed in September 2021. For this, land acquisition of 2 lakh 88 thousand 124 square meters of 195 land owners has to be done. At the start of the project, preliminary possession was shown to provide 2 lakh 16 thousand 596 square meters of land.

Actually, after the road work started, many land owners refused to hand over the land. So, this project has been delayed. Due to obstacles in land acquisition, it was decided to make this road 50 meters instead of 84 meters.

Out of which, Rs. 280 crores will be required for land acquisition, of which Rs 200 crores will be received from the state government. It is being said that Rs 200 crores will be received from last year. However, this amount has not yet been received by the Municipal Corporation.

Between Rajas Society Chowk and Gokulnagar there is a large number of small plot owners on both sides. They have demanded direct payment of cash in the form of ‘TDR’, ‘FSI’ without compensation.

A new road has been constructed between Kanha Hotel Chowk and Khadi Machine Chowk, but work has stalled between Rajas Society Chowk and Gokulnagar. The land will be occupied by paying cash compensation to the citizens of this area. For this, the administration has made a provision of Rs 74 crore for land acquisition in the budget. As the process of land acquisition is complicated and time-consuming, the work of this road can be speeded up only if their proposals are processed on priority.
