Pune, December 4, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has completed the first month of its pothole-free initiative, during which teams repaired 2,989 potholes and restored close to 18 hectares of road surface across the city.

According to PMC road department chief Aniruddha Pawaskar, the campaign recorded one of the fastest paces of repair work in recent years. Dedicated teams of engineers and contractors not only filled individual potholes but also resurfaced stretches where damage was widespread and recurring.

In total, the civic body restored around 1,88,948 square metres of road. Officials also maintained photographic documentation and on-ground measurements of every repair carried out.

Out of 3,904 pothole-related complaints submitted through the Road Mitra app, only 34 remain to be addressed. Pawaskar said the teams went beyond app-based complaints by coordinating directly with citizens to fix additional damaged spots identified during field visits.

The month-long effort cost approximately ₹15 crore, with each regional PMC office allocated nearly ₹1 crore for repair work. Milling and fresh asphalt were applied at about 1,800 locations throughout Pune.

PMC has also taken action against contractors found negligent during the drive. Stop-work notices were issued to a police department contractor and to Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology (MahaPreit), the state-run PSU overseeing a 500-km Aramid fibre-optic cable project.

Pawaskar added that the pothole-free campaign will continue, with ongoing efforts to improve road safety and provide smoother travel for residents across the city.
