Pune, January 7, 2026: Popular Pune-based social media reel star Atharva Sudame has landed in fresh controversy, and the consequences may prove costly. Known for his widely followed “Puneri humour” reels, Sudame enjoys popularity not only in Pune but also among international audiences. However, his latest reel, shot inside a Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus, has triggered strict action by authorities.

The PMPML has imposed a fine of ₹50,000 on Atharva Sudame for creating reels without official permission. This is the third notice issued to him by the PMPML. Authorities have warned that if the penalty is not paid, a case will be registered against him under the Information Technology Act. The unauthorised filming has now put Sudame in serious trouble.

According to the notice, Sudame shot the reel inside a PMPML bus without obtaining prior approval. In the video, he allegedly mimicked a bus conductor and made unauthorised use of government resources, including the bus itself, official uniform, e-ticketing machine, and identification badge. Civic officials have stated that such actions amount to misuse of public property.

The most serious allegation is that the content of the reel portrayed women in an insulting and derogatory manner. PMPML authorities have stated that the video harmed the dignity and mental safety of women and adversely affected the professional image of the transport department. The administration has taken strong objection to the content, calling it inappropriate and offensive.

Atharva Sudame runs a popular Instagram account titled “Puneri Humor,” which has a large following. This is not the first time he has faced controversy. Earlier as well, one of his festival-related reels had sparked backlash.
