Pune: PMRDA Cracks Down On Illegal Pubs, Bars, and Hoardings In Somatane And Talegaon
Pune/Pimpri : On September 30, 2024, Thursday morning, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) took action against illegal pubs, bars, and restaurants, as well as unauthorized hoardings in Somatane and Talegaon (Tal. Maval). PMRDA has announced that the survey of all pubs, bars, and restaurants within its jurisdiction is ongoing, and actions against illegal constructions will continue, as stated by Deputy Collector Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi.
During the operation, PMRDA dismantled unauthorized extensions of the Kavya Bar and Resto hotel, which were built beyond the permitted area. At the Aditya Bar Hotel, local representatives requested PMRDA to grant time for the business owners to legalize the hotel. The action was deferred as the hotel owners agreed to either remove the unauthorized structures themselves or obtain the necessary permissions. However, it was made clear that failure to comply with the agreed timelines would result in unavoidable action against them. Additionally, the PMRDA also removed unauthorized extensions at Mayur Garden and Bar and Bhajansingh Dhaba.
Three unauthorized hoardings were also targeted for action. During this time, two hoarding owners removed their hoardings voluntarily, while the remaining unauthorized hoarding was seized by the PMRDA. On Thursday, approximately 5,840 square feet of illegal hotels, pubs, restaurants, and bars were cleared using excavators, JCBs, and manpower. The PMRDA’s Unauthorized Construction Elimination Department officials present at the site urged people not to engage in unauthorized construction.
The operation was conducted under the guidance of PMRDA Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Superintendent of Police and Vigilance Officer Amol Tambe, Deputy Collector Dr. Deepti Suryavanshi-Patil, Tehsildar Sachin Maske, Tehsildar Rajendra Ranjane, Police Inspector Maheshkumar Saratape, Junior Engineer Ganesh Jadhav, Abhinav Lodhe, along with other police officers and staff.
