*Pune, September 2, 2024* — The Swargate Metro Station inauguration and the bhoomi pujan for the Swargate-Katraj route of the Pune Metro will be conducted together in the coming days, announced Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, on Monday.
During a press briefing, Mohol highlighted that the completion of Swargate station will signify the end of phase one of the Pune Metro project. He noted that while the Vanaz to Ramwadi route is already fully operational, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate route remains partially functional. The underground stretch from Civil Court to Swargate is pending inauguration.
“The Vanaz to Ramwadi route has been well-received by Punekars. The PCMC to Swargate route is 90% complete, with only technical work and a few permissions pending for the Civil Court to Swargate stretch. We expect to finalize these soon, allowing the route to fully open to the public,” Mohol stated.
The Civil Court to Swargate route features three stations: Kasba Peth (formerly Budhwar Peth), Mandai, and Swargate. The respective distances are 0.85 km from Civil Court to Kasba Peth, 1 km from Kasba Peth to Mandai, and 1.48 km from Mandai to Swargate.
Following an inspection, Mohol confirmed that the Swargate Metro Station inauguration and the bhoomi pujan for the underground Swargate-Katraj route will be held together. He also mentioned ongoing efforts to secure Union Cabinet approval for the Vanaz to Chandani Chowk and Ramwadi to Wagholi metro stretches.
