Pune Police Alerts PMC About 35 Problem Spots Ahead Of PM Modi’s Visit on September 26
The Pune city police have provided the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) with a list of 35 problem areas along the route that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take during his visit to Pune on September 26, revealed a report as per Hindustan Times. These problem spots include under-construction road patches, damaged drainage systems, and malfunctioning streetlights. The police have requested urgent repairs to ensure the route is in optimal condition for the PM’s arrival, as he is set to attend two significant programmes in the city on that day.
In addition to inaugurating the new underground metro corridor between Civil Court and Swargate, the Prime Minister is also expected to lay the foundation stone for several key projects. These include the much-anticipated memorial at Bhide Wada, where Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule established India’s first school for girls.
Additional Commissioner of Police (CP) Manoj Patil, who is overseeing traffic management for the PM’s visit, said, “We have identified 35 problematic areas on the PM’s route and handed the list to the PMC. We have requested repairs and corrections to be completed before the visit.” However, Patil refrained from revealing the exact locations, citing security concerns for the PM.
This heightened urgency comes after President Droupadi Murmu’s recent visit to Pune on September 2, where she encountered potholes along her route. Following the visit, the President’s office issued a letter to both the Pune police and the PMC commissioner, expressing dissatisfaction with the condition of the roads and calling for immediate action. The same issues are now being addressed in preparation for PM Modi’s visit.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit, which includes multiple important engagements, has brought the issue of road conditions in Pune into sharp focus. With time running out, the PMC is expected to complete the necessary repairs to ensure a smooth and secure visit for the country’s top dignitary.
