Pune RTO Staff Union Goes On An Indefinite Strike Over Unmet Demands
The Regional Transport Office (RTO) staff union launched an indefinite strike on Tuesday, protesting against the non-fulfilment of their long-standing demands. The strike has significantly disrupted services at RTO offices, causing inconvenience to the public.
The workers’ association expressed concerns over changes in staff transfer policies and the departmental exam process, calling them unfair and detrimental to employees. In a statement, the union highlighted that, for the past two years, various administrative changes have led to service-related complications. The Motor Vehicles Department’s new policies, they argue, are not employee-friendly and have made operations difficult.
The union also emphasized that the Kalaskar panel recommendations, which are intended to improve efficiency and streamline operations, have yet to be implemented. As their demands continue to be ignored, the staff have opted for an indefinite strike starting from September 24.
