Pune Police Bust Illegal Hookah Bar in Baner, Seize Tobacco Worth ₹48,650
Pune, November 10, 2025: The Chatushrungi Police Station of Pune City conducted a successful operation against an illegal hookah bar operating in a farm at Farm Café, Survey No. 224, Aundh-Baner Link Road, Baner, Pune-45.
During a combing operation on November 8, 2025, police officers received information about the unauthorized hookah bar. On verifying the information, the team raided the café and found it supplying hookahs to customers illegally, while keeping tobacco products on the premises.
A total of five accused, including the café owner, manager, and staff, have been booked under Sections 4(a) and 21(a) of the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2018. Police seized 20 hookah pots, tobacco products, and other related materials with a total market value of ₹48,650.
The investigation is being led by Assistant Police Inspector Aniket Pote of Chatushrungi Police Station. The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Police Commissioner Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner Somai Munde, Joint Commissioner Vitthal Dabade, Senior Police Inspector Uttam Bhajanawale, and Inspector (Crime) Ashwini Nanaware. The raid was executed by a dedicated team including Inspector Aniket Pote, and officers Babasaheb Dangde, Irfan Momin, Srikant Waghwale, Babulal Tandale, Wagesh Kamble, and Tushar Girange.
