Pune Police Bust Illegal Hookah Parlour In Posh Society, Case Filed Against Operators

The Pune City Police conducted a raid on an illegally operating hookah parlour in a high-end residential society in Sahakarnagar and registered a criminal case against the operators and staff for running the facility without a valid licence.
According to the Crime Branch and Sahakarnagar Police Station, the action was taken on February 9, 2026, after police received credible information from an informant that an illegal hookah parlour was being operated on the third-floor terrace of Shri Guru Nanak Krupa Building, adjacent to Meher Living Building in Rajmudra Housing Society, Dhankawadi, Pune.
The information was passed on to Police Sub-Inspector Ganesh Karche, who informed Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Pawar. Acting on his instructions, a special police team was formed and immediately dispatched to the spot.
The police team entered the premises and accessed the terrace through the staircase. After breaking open a wooden door, the team conducted a raid and found six tables arranged in the hall area. At four tables, eight individuals were found consuming hookah.
Upon questioning, police identified the persons present as Rajsinh Bhajansing Gorwada (35), resident of Rajmudra Society, Dhankawadi, Pune (owner), Paras Parmanand Sharma (24), native of Nepalgunj, District Banke, Nepal, Subhash Mansing Giri (20), native of Kanchanpur, District Bilori, Nepal, Tilak Bhola Tiwari (35), native of Tikapur, District Kailali, Nepal and Narayan Meghe Acharya (34), native of Tikapur, District Kailali, Nepal.
During the inspection of the kitchen and premises, police recovered multiple hookah pots, chillums, flavoured hookah materials, and related equipment. The seized material was valued at ₹12,495, which was confiscated in the presence of panch witnesses.
A case has been registered at Sahakarnagar Police Station under Crime Register No. 43/2026 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 (Sections 123, 3(5)) and the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products (Maharashtra Amendment) Act, 2018 (Sections 4A and 21A).
The operation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (West Region) Rajesh Bansode, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-2) Milind Mohite, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Swargate Division) Dhanyakumar Ghodse, Senior Police Inspector Vitthal Pawar, and Police Inspector (Crime) Manojkumar Londhe.
The raid was executed by a team led by PSI Ganesh Karche, along with officers and personnel including Saddam Hussein Fakir, API Bapu Khutwad, Amol Pawar, Nilesh Shivtare, Kiran Kamble, Bajrang Pawar, Sagar Sutkar, Ashish Dhamal, Nikhil Rajivade, Abhijeet Walgude, Mahesh Bhagat, Akash Kirtikar, Khandu Shinde, Abhiman Baglane, Amit Padmale, Maroti Nalwade, and Rafiq Tadvi.
Police officials stated that strict action will continue against illegal establishments operating without licences and violating tobacco control laws in Pune city.
