Pune | February 11, 2026: Warje Malwadi Police carried out a major crackdown on illegally modified Bullet motorcycles fitted with high-decibel “firecracker” silencers, acting on multiple complaints from residents regarding noise pollution and disturbance of public peace.

Following public complaints, a special action team was formed on February 10, 2026, under the guidance of Senior Police Inspector Mahesh Bolkotgi and the supervision of Police Sub-Inspector Sanjay Narale. The team conducted intensive patrolling in the Warje, Karvenagar and Shivane areas.

During the operation, police, with assistance from the traffic department, took action against 15 Bullet motorcycle riders who were using modified silencers that created loud explosive sounds and violated noise pollution norms. The illegal silencers were seized on the spot.

On interrogation, the riders revealed that the modified silencers had been installed at Royal Bike Service Garage in Warje. Acting on this information, PSI Sanjay Narale and his team raided the garage and caught the owner, Yogesh Damodar Sapkal (33), resident of Opulence Building, Zeal College Chowk, Narhe, Pune, red-handed while fitting illegal modified silencers on a Bullet motorcycle.

A case has been registered at Warje Malwadi Police Station (Crime Register No. 43/2026) under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Sections 223, 270, 49), Motor Vehicles Act (Section 190(2)), and Maharashtra Police Act (Sections 37(1)(3) and 135).

The seized modified silencers were later destroyed using a road roller near RMD College Road, and counseling was conducted for the riders to create awareness about noise pollution, public safety, and legal consequences.

This action was carried out under the guidance of Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional CP (West) Rajesh Bansode, Additional CP (East) Manoj Patil, DCP Zone 3 Sambhaji Kadam, and ACP Kothrud Division Sujata Tanwade, with the supervision of Senior PI Mahesh Bolkotgi and PI (Crime) Prakash Shende, along with the officers and staff of Warje Malwadi Police Station.
