Pune Rains: Police Commissioner Advises Citizens to Stay Indoors, Dial 112 for Emergencies
Pune: Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar issued a stern warning to criminals operating in the city. Speaking at a program in Wanowrie, he said, “Those creating gangs to spread terror or engaging in illegal activities must leave Pune immediately, or their actions will lead to severe consequences.”
The event was organized at Mahatma Phule Cultural Hall by the Pune Police, Zone 5, to distribute recovered items including gold jewelry, mobile phones, and vehicles worth ₹1.80 crore to their rightful owners.
Key officials, including Joint Commissioner Ranjankumar Sharma, Additional Commissioners Arvind Chawariya and Shailesh Balkawade, and other senior officers, were present at the event. A total of 94 beneficiaries received the recovered items from police stations in Hadapsar, Loni Kalbhor, Wanowrie, Mundhwa, Kondhwa, Kalepadal, Market Yard, and Bibwewadi areas.
Commissioner Kumar highlighted the emotional value of some recovered items, such as family heirlooms, and how citizens often lose hope of recovering them. Many recipients were moved to tears upon regaining their stolen valuables.
Emphasizing community collaboration, Kumar said, “The public is our eyes and ears. With their support, we can maintain law and order effectively. Police officers must strengthen communication with citizens and ensure recovered items are returned promptly after legal procedures.”
This initiative reflects the police’s commitment to fostering trust and ensuring justice for the people of Pune.
