Pune Police Constable Honored for Bravery in Chasing Miscreants at Shewalewadi Chowk

Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch of Manjari and Shewalwadi felicitate Hadapsar police constable

Pune: Vijaykumar Dhakane, a constable at Hadapsar Police Station, was felicitated on June 29 by the Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch of Manjari and Shewalwadi villages at Hadapsar Police Station for showing exceptional courage in successfully nabbing a criminal.

As per information, on June 25, at around 6:45 pm, police constable Vijaykumar Dhakne, working at Hadapsar Police Station, came to Shewalwadi Chowk along with his family on a private matter. He was working the night shift that day. Three unidentified men came to Chaitanya Sweet Centre at Shewalwadi Chowk and started breaking the glass cabinets with an iron axe.   

Dhakane immediately reported the incident to the police station. He started chasing the men alone. Upon receiving the information, sub-inspector Dagle, investigation team officer and the officer of the adjacent police post immediately reached the spot. Dhakne chased the men for around 6 kilometres. During the chase, two men fell off the motorcycle and fled in two opposite directions of a sugarcane farm. The staff of Hadapsar police station reached the spot and nabbed a 17-year-old boy, who was hiding on the farm. They also recovered the vehicle used in the crime. The other two accused fled away from the scene, one of them is identified as Gaurav Santosh Adsul and the other is a 19-year-old boy.

As a result of this prompt response from the cops, on June 29, the Sarpanch and Upsarpanch of Manjari and Shewalwadi came to Hadapsar police station and felicitated Dhakne and expressed their satisfaction with the teamwork of the police station.
