Pune, July 2, 2026: Pune Police have moved a local court seeking permission to conduct a polygraph (lie-detector) test on Siya Goyal, the prime accused in the alleged murder of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal. Investigators told the court that the examination could help generate fresh leads as there is no conclusive evidence or eyewitness account identifying who allegedly pushed Agarwal into a gorge.

According to the police, statements of Goyal and co-accused Chetan Chaudhary have already been recorded. However, investigators believe a polygraph test may assist in clarifying inconsistencies and advancing the probe.

Goyal’s lawyer, Vipul Dushing, said the court has only been approached for permission and noted that several legal procedures must be completed before such a test can take place. He also pointed out that the accused’s consent is mandatory for a polygraph examination.

Police have alleged that Goyal and Chaudhary conspired to kill Agarwal by pushing him off a cliff at Lohagad Fort on June 18. The victim, a Pune-based realtor, was engaged to Goyal, and the couple was scheduled to marry later this year.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police recently recreated the crime scene with both accused separately. Investigators are also examining Agarwal’s mobile phone to determine whether any evidence was deleted or tampered with while it was allegedly in Goyal’s possession before being returned to his family. Both accused remain in police custody until July 3 as the investigation continues.
