Pune police seizes marijuana worth Rs 4 lakhs in Wanowrie

Wanowrie : In an effort to curb crime and drug trafficking in the city of Pune, senior police officials have ordered increased police presence on the streets. This resulted in a successful arrest of a person who was recently released on bail. But he was caught by the anti-narcotics cell for selling marijuana in Wanowrie on the Harshvardhan Kakade ground. 

The arrest was made by Senior Police Inspector Sunil Thopte, Police Inspector Shailaja Jankar and staff from the Anti-Narcotics Cell 1 when they were informed about the information that a person was arriving at the Kakade ground to sell marijuana. The police officials while patrolling in the Wanwadi Police Station area of Pune city on March 14 caught the accused. 

The officers received information that a person was coming to sell ganja (marijuana) on Hutatma Shrikant Lingayat road footpath at Harshvardhan ground in Wanowrie. In response, the police officials laid a trap and arrested the accused Harshad Hanumant Thorat, aged 20 years. Police seized 21 kg 200 grams marijuana worth ₹4,24,000 and a mobile phone.

The accused has been charged under Section 8 (c), 20(b) (ii) (c) of the Act by Wanowrie Police Station for possessing marijuana.
