Assistant Commissioner of Police Anita More from the Pune police issued an appeal, urging couples facing problems to seek help from the Bharosa cell of the Pune police without hesitation. An appeal was made on the backdrop of a boy was killed by his girlfriend over relationship disputes.

“Whether it’s couples or anyone else, feel free to discuss your problems with us. Please avoid taking extreme measures. We are here to assist you,” More said.

On Monday, in a horrific incident a girl classmate killed his male friend in Wagholi over pretty issues in between them. This has highlighted the importance of counseling for the young generation, specifically those who are in relationships.

According to the Police, over the past two years, police have received complaints from live-in couples as well as those who have ended their relationships. Police conduct counseling sessions that have proven effective in helping individuals view their situations from different perspectives.

“At first, they may resist listening to others, but we observe positive outcomes during the third and fourth counseling sessions,” said More.

After hearing the complainant’s side of the story, the assigned police officer, acting as a counselor, contacts the partner and requests their presence at the Bharosa cell office.

“If the partner agrees to speak with the police, the allegations are discussed and clarified. Both sides are heard, and the counselor facilitates the resolution of their differences. Subsequent sessions are held every 15 days until the police believe the couple has reached a compromise.” said More.

The officer emphasized that counseling sessions have successfully allowed numerous couples to rebuild their lives.

The Bharosa cell in Pune has witnessed a rise in such complaints over the past two years, with several reports coming from IT company employees. Police have observed that couples are becoming frustrated over trivial matters, such as unanswered calls or messages.
