Pune : Protest march by Wagholi residents over water, road problems
Pune: Hundreds of residents of various housing societies staged a protest rally from Bakori Phata to Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) ward office in Wagholi on Friday over water supply issues, bad roads and many other issues in the Wagholi area.
Wagholi Housing Societies Association (WHSA) has been working to resolve the issues of PMC water supply, road condition and other basic amenities.
Anil Kumar Mishra, Chairman of Neo City Phase 1 society in Wagholi, said, “Thousands of Wagholi residents are risking their lives on daily basis by commuting on bad roads.We neither get good roads nor water.We are spending huge money by purchasing water.”
Mishra further said,“We are taxpayers but we have been denied the basic amenities like roads and water. Hence, to attract the attention of the civic body and politicians, we have staged a protest in a peaceful manner.
Santosh Krishna, a resident of Bakori road informed that the protest was held for raising water, road access and other infrastructure projects needed in our area. He said, “We are hoping that the PMC and PMRDA notices our pleas and acts upon it immediately.”
Another resident of Neo City on Bakori road in Wagholi said that there are thousands of Wagholi residents who have been denied basic amenities.
Residents claimed that recently on 9 January in the morning Supriya Dhobale, a teacher died in a road accident near damaged IVY estate road. Who will take responsibility for her death, ask residents.
