Pune, May 18, 2026: Residents of Tamara Housing Society in Rahatani staged a protest against the developer on May 18, 2026, alleging serious safety lapses, environmental concerns and failure to provide promised amenities within the residential complex.

The agitation, being held under the banner “Residents’ Fight for Justice,” includes a peaceful hunger strike by society members demanding immediate action on multiple pending issues affecting residents.

According to the protesters, one of the major concerns is the operation of an allegedly illegal Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) inside the society premises. Residents claim the STP is causing foul smell, mosquito breeding and health-related problems for families living in the complex.

Residents also alleged that the society’s exit gate has remained closed, posing serious risks during emergencies. In addition, they claimed that several buildings are facing leakage and structural cracks, while security arrangements in the society remain inadequate.

The protesters accused the builder of ignoring repeated complaints raised by residents over the years. They also alleged that several promised amenities and infrastructure facilities have not been completed despite assurances made at the time of purchase.

Among the key demands raised by residents are relocation of the STP, reopening of the exit gate, repairs to leakages and cracks, installation of CCTV cameras, fire safety systems, solar facilities and rainwater harvesting infrastructure.

Residents have also sought structural stability certificates for all buildings and demanded that common amenities property tax charges be borne by the developer. Allegations regarding unauthorised alterations and misuse of development rights have also been raised.

The residents have appealed to the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation and concerned authorities to conduct a joint inspection of the society and take strict action against violations, if found.

The protest is being held at the main entrance of Tamara Housing Society in Rahatani, with residents stating that the agitation is aimed at protecting their right to safe and dignified living conditions.
