Pune Railway Division Appeals To Passengers To Buy Packaged Drinking Water From Authorised Vendors

Pune- In a shocking incident, packaged drinking water sold at Pune Railway Station was found stored in a public toilet, undeniably putting passengers’ health at high risk. A man was seen jumping from the station compound towards the main road to hand over bottled drinking water packages to his accomplice inside the compound. He was spotted picking two packages from inside the ladies’ toilet while others were also kept beside it.

According to the post shared on social media platform, when questioned about the bottle storage in urinals, the accused stated that he feared the bottle would be stolen if kept outside therefore, he brought them to the station when required. In response, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Pune expressed that they are deeply concerned about the incident involving the storage of packaged drinking water inside a public toilet near Pune Railway Station. The toilet shown in the report is outside the station premises and therefore, it is outside their jurisdiction. He assured that the Rail Neer which is available at the station meets the highest safety and hygiene standards.

The DRM further elaborated on the actions taken against the unauthorized vendors by saying that they have taken immediate action and the vendors have been apprehended. They are conducting further investigations and implementing strict measures to prevent such incidents in the future. Railway Protection Force (RPF) Pune has taken cognizance of the video and acted swiftly to conclude the matter against offenders involved in unauthorized vending.
The concerned vendor has a few cases registered against him previously making him a repeated offender. Yesterday, in coordination with on-duty TTE staff, action was taken against four unauthorized vendors who were booked under the Railway Act. Accordingly, strict administrative action will be taken against them.
The DRM Pune has advised passengers to avoid the purchase of unbranded water from unauthorized vendors and has suggested buying Rail Neer which is available at the station.
