In order to detect and apprehend touts, the Pune rail division will install AI-enabled CCTV cameras in all reservation offices and PRS (passenger reservation system) centers throughout the major stations under its purview.

Five of these cameras have been placed at the Pune railway station’s reservation office, according to a Pune railway official. The results of the preliminary tests are satisfactory.

According to a senior Pune Railway official, the goal is to stop these touts from purchasing tickets in large quantities, and a system that identifies them as soon as they approach the reservation counter needs to be created. They have started this plan with the help of a private telecom company.

According to the official, cameras would be installed at PRS centers and significant train stations in Kolhapur, Pimpri, Sangli, Karad, and other locations. Between April and December of last year, approximately 270 cases of illegal ticket requests were found, and 320 people were taken into custody.
