Tragedy strikes: Three youths killed in horrific accident in Pune

The joy of a new car quickly turned into tragedy for a young man from Shikrapur as a horrific accident on the Ashtavinayak Highway near Wagholi claimed the lives of three youths and left one critically injured. The incident occurred on Sunday evening.

The ill-fated journey involved seven young men from Shikrapur, including three who were riding in a newly purchased car. They were headed to Theur for darshan, but tragedy struck on the Bakori-Theur stretch of the highway. A collision between a container and a car resulted in a devastating impact, leaving the car completely shattered.

Upon receiving news of the accident, local authorities including Police Inspector (Crime) Seema Dhakne, Sub-Inspector Rahul Kolpe, and others from the Lonikand Police Station rushed to the scene. With the help of citizens, they managed to extricate the injured from the mangled wreckage and rushed them to the hospital for urgent medical attention.

Tragically, despite efforts to save them, three of the injured youths succumbed to their injuries during treatment. The deceased were identified as Ganesh Jadhav (32), Vinod Bhojne (36), and Vitthal Jogdand (36), all residents of Shikrapur. 

Meanwhile, in a separate incident on the Pune city highway, another fatal accident occurred involving a truck and a car near Hotel Kaveri. The driver of the car, Vijay Abhimanyu Tandale (25), lost his life in the early hours of Monday morning.

The string of accidents within a span of 10 hours, from Sunday evening to Monday morning, has left the community reeling with shock and grief. 

The tragic loss of young lives serves as a stark reminder of the unpredictability of life and the importance of road safety awareness.
