Pune, April 2, 2026: Heavy rainfall on Wednesday afternoon led to a surge in emergency calls to the city’s central fire station, with multiple incidents of tree falls and waterlogging reported across several areas. The department received 82 calls, out of which 52 have been closed. 

Fire officials said distress calls began coming in around 2:30 pm, mainly related to fallen trees in localities such as Wanowrie, University Road, Baner, Aundh, Sinhagad Road, Bibwewadi, Koregaon Park, Katraj, Warje, Wadgaon Sheri, and Pashan. Fire brigade teams were immediately dispatched, and clearance operations are currently underway at these locations.

In addition to tree fall incidents, waterlogging was reported in areas including Warje (near Sahyadri School), Raviwar Peth, Shaileshwari Park, and Patil Plaza, where rainwater entered residential and commercial premises.

In a major incident on Sinhagad Road, near Navshya Maruti Temple, a tree collapsed and trapped a woman underneath. Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and, with the help of local residents, rescued the injured woman. 

Authorities continue to monitor the situation as intermittent rain is expected to persist, and citizens have been advised to remain alert.
