Pune Records 40.9°C, Becomes Maharashtra’s Hottest City; More Heat Ahead
Pune is experiencing extreme heat, with temperatures crossing 40°C once again. On March 24, Koregaon Park recorded a scorching 40.9°C, making Pune the hottest city in Maharashtra, surpassing traditionally warmer places like Nagpur and Solapur.
No Relief at Night
Even after sunset, temperatures remain high, offering little respite. While NDA recorded a low of 16.8°C, most parts of Pune saw minimum temperatures exceeding 20°C, making nights uncomfortable. The return of clear skies and low humidity is causing a rapid rise in temperatures, with no immediate relief expected.

Heatwave Across Maharashtra
Several other cities also recorded high temperatures:
- Jalgaon – 39.3°C
- Nashik – 38.0°C
- Satara – 39.2°C
- Solapur – 38.9°C
- Mumbai (Santacruz) – 33.0°C
- Sindhudurg – 33.5°C

Ahmadnagar saw the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 16.3°C, providing rare relief.
No Heatwave Warning Yet
Despite rising temperatures, experts have ruled out an official heatwave for Maharashtra and most of India in the next 3-4 days. However, isolated hot and humid conditions will persist in Gujarat and nearby areas. Weather analysts also indicate a weakening wind discontinuity line, which has shifted southward. This could lead to isolated light rain and thunderstorms in Kolhapur, Sangli, Solapur, and Latur soon.
Stay Safe in the Heat
Residents are advised to:
Stay hydrated
Avoid outdoor activities during peak hours
Wear light, breathable clothing
With temperatures expected to rise further, caution is necessary to avoid heat-related illnesses.
