Even though the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) awarded a five-year contract, which expired last year i.e. 2023, for a traffic park in Moshi, the PMRDA is still having trouble collecting the outstanding rent from the contractor in question.

Speaking to Pune Pulse, Ramdas Jagtap, Deputy Collector, PMRDA, said “A combined meeting was conducted, regarding rent arrears collection, in PMRDA amongst accounts & finance department officials, land and estate department officials & the traffic park contractor. The contractor has requested to give concession in the outstanding rent due to park operations closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 1 or 2 weeks, the calculations & finalizing of the entire outstanding rent arrears will be done for the contractor to pay the outstanding rent.”

As per further information shared by Ramdas Jagtap, to raise public awareness of traffic laws, the Pimpri-Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA) established a traffic park on a four-acre plot in Sector number 6 in Moshi.

A private limited company was given a contract to run & maintain the traffic park by the PMRDA for a period of five years, starting on May 1, 2018, and ending on April 30, 2023.

Even though the five-year contract had expired in April 2023, the private limited company has neither given possession of the traffic park to the PMRDA nor paid the outstanding rent.
