Pimpri | December 15, 2025: A resident was injured after a heavy iron gate collapsed at a Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) housing project in Charholi, allegedly due to substandard construction work, raising serious concerns over safety and quality at the site.

The incident occurred at around 8.30 pm on December 13, 2025, when the main entrance gate of the PMAY building in Charholi, weighing nearly 1.5 tonnes, suddenly broke and fell on a local resident. The injured person has been identified as Rahul Jadhav, who was immediately shifted to a private hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Local residents alleged that the PMAY housing project in Charholi has been plagued by multiple issues since its completion, citing extremely poor construction quality. According to residents, nearly 90 per cent of the beneficiaries are facing persistent leakage problems, along with several other unresolved structural and maintenance issues, despite repeated complaints to the authorities.

Residents said Jadhav narrowly escaped a major tragedy as the gate was reportedly thrown forward after collapsing. They added that had he been trapped beneath it, the incident could have resulted in a fatality.

Angered by the incident, residents have demanded strict legal action against the responsible officials and the contractor involved in the project. They have announced plans to file a formal complaint at the Dighi Police Station and to stage a large protest march against the municipal corporation, highlighting alleged negligence and substandard work at the housing project.
