Pune: Residents Of Pimple Saudagar Demand Action Against Noise Pollution, Seek Help From Pimpri Chinchwad Police
21 January 2025, Pune: The rising menace of noise pollution in Pimple Saudagar has left residents frustrated and concerned for their health. Late-night loud music, midnight firecrackers, and unruly behavior by some individuals have made life difficult for locals, especially during the ongoing wedding season.
Noise pollution, coupled with inadequate administrative intervention, has become a persistent issue, particularly affecting families with elderly members and patients. Residents are now demanding strict enforcement of rules to address the problem.
Key Issues Identified:
- Late-Night Music Without Permission
Despite rules prohibiting loud music after permissible hours, events like weddings and festivals routinely violate these regulations. Tanzila Sheikh, an IT professional residing in Dwarka Lodge, shared her plight, saying, “Late-night marriage functions often disrupt our peace, and the event management committees are indifferent to complaints.” - Insensitive Behavior
The lack of civic sense among some individuals has added to the distress. Aruna Chaudhary, whose husband is recovering from a brain hemorrhage, revealed, “Firecrackers at midnight worsen my husband’s condition. When I requested neighbors to stop, I was told to move him elsewhere. Such insensitivity is disheartening.” - Poor Infrastructure
Residents like Tarannum Sheikh Joshi pointed out that unplanned infrastructure amplifies noise levels. “Parallel roads in the area cause echoes of firecrackers, scaring children and affecting patients. It’s unbearable at times,” she explained. - Noise from Modified Bikes
Local bikers with modified silencers have also been a major cause of concern. Sheikh described how the loud noise once triggered a panic attack. She added, “These bikers threaten us, claiming they have political backing.”
Authorities Unresponsive
Efforts to reach Senior Police Inspector Sunil Tope of Sangvi Police Station for comments went unanswered. Despite repeated complaints, residents allege that no concrete action has been taken to curb the noise pollution or penalize offenders.
Residents now demand a stricter implementation of noise control regulations and a coordinated response from local authorities to restore peace in their neighborhood.
