Pune Residents Unite In “Make India Care Again” Walk On December 6 Demanding Animal And Environmental Justice
Pune, December 6, 2025: A diverse group of Pune residents — including families, students, senior citizens, and workers — are taking to the streets today for a citizen-led protest walk titled “Make India Care Again.” Organisers say the demonstration is a response to what they call a collapse of compassion and governance in India, citing concerns over the controversial SOP issued by the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI), recent Supreme Court directives on community dog management, rising human–wildlife conflict, and ongoing destruction of forests and wildlife habitats.
The peaceful walk begins at 6:00 PM from Kayani Bakery on M.G. Road on December 6, 2025 and will move along the main thoroughfare to engage the public, raise awareness, and demand immediate policy changes. Citizens are urging evidence-based, humane solutions for community animals, stronger environmental protections, and judicial and legislative accountability.
Participants emphasise that this protest marks a shift from silence to civic action, reflecting growing frustration with policies prioritising convenience over science. “Institutions have stepped back, and citizens must step in,” said organisers.
The demonstration highlights a nationwide trend of civic dissatisfaction, framing the issue beyond animal welfare to encompass public safety, environmental survival, and democratic responsibility. Media representatives are invited to cover the walk and document this rapidly emerging people’s movement.
