Pune: Woman Allegedly Demands ₹2 Lakh, Threatens False Rape Case and Viral Photos, Booked Again by Kothrud Police
Pune: Fresh allegations have piled up against a 42-year-old woman from Kothrud after Mundhwa and Uttamnagar police stations registered two new extortion-related cases on Wednesday and Thursday. These complaints follow an earlier ₹2 lakh extortion case filed by the Kothrud police, bringing the total number of cases against her to three.
Inspector Anil Mane of the Kothrud police confirmed that a notice has already been issued to the accused. He stated that she is currently evading arrest. Last month, the same woman allegedly intimidated a man from Kolhapur district by threatening to expose his private photographs. Investigators say she introduced herself as a lawyer, drugged his drink, and secretly took objectionable pictures.
Uttamnagar police lodged a fresh case on Thursday, stating that she attempted to extort another ₹2 lakh from a Kothrud resident through a similar pattern of deceit. According to the complaint, the incident unfolded between May 2022 and November 2023 in a Shivane flat. The victim told officers that she had spiked his drinks and taken photographs of them in compromising situations. An Uttamnagar police officer said, “She warned him that she would make the photos public if he didn’t cooperate, and she also kept pressuring him to marry her.”
Mundhwa police reported a separate instance involving a 35-year-old retired army personnel, now employed as a private security officer in an IT park. He met the woman in September this year while visiting the Pune police commissioner’s office regarding a matter related to his estranged wife. A Mundhwa officer said, “She assured him she could help with his ongoing case at the Lohara court in Dharashiv district.”
The officer added that the woman accompanied the victim to Dharashiv and arranged lodging during the trip, insisting they share a room. “The victim told us she mixed something into his drinks and captured objectionable photographs,” the officer explained. She allegedly went on to demand marriage, verbally abused his mother, and later threatened him while asking for ₹2 lakh as well. The victim approached the police on Wednesday and formally lodged a complaint.
