The Pune Ring Road will create new opportunities for development in Pune, Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) areas and an economy worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore; Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his belief that this road will be the engine of Pune’s development in the coming years.

Sassoon Hospital in Pune Cantonment Vidhan Sabha Constituency New Residential Building for Class IV Staff, Modernization of Mahatma Gandhi Pulgate Bus Stand, development of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue area, renovation of Sangameshwar Ganesh Visarjan Ghat at Sangam Ghat and shelter center for citizens etc. Fadnavis was speaking during the Bhoomi Pujan of Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Botanical Garden.

Higher and Technical Education Minister Chandrakant Patil, MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, Madhuri Misal, Siddharth Shirole, Sunil Kamble, former Minister Dilip Kamble, former MP Sanjay Kakade, former MLA Yogesh Mulik, Yogesh Tilekar, former Mayor Muralidhar Mohol etc were present on this occasion.

Fadnavis said that Pune Ring Road is important for which 80 percent land acquisition is being completed. The work of this road will be started in the coming period. Skybus will be connected to the metro to go to the institutions in the IT park area and Bhoomi Pujan will be performed in the near future. This will not require a vehicle to reach the establishment and will not cause pollution.

Work will be done to provide connectivity to metro for traffic planning. A 9 km missing link is being constructed between Khopoli and Khandala and this will reduce the distance between Mumbai and Pune and solve the traffic problems.

In the city of Pune, various schemes like 24 X 7 water supply scheme, river improvement program are being implemented to change the image of the city through development works. Through PMPML, the country’s first fleet of electric buses has been made in Pune city. This model of Pune is being implemented in the country and various cities have adopted it. Metro works are being done at a very fast pace. Underground test of Civil Court to Swargate Metro has been conducted through Mutha River and in the near future, a total of 54 km metro network is being started by combining all three metro lines. The work of Metro will be completed in the coming year.

Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar statue area beautification and Sassoon hospital is being done. Bharat Ratna Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar has thought of the last person through the constitution and according to the same thought, accommodation arrangements are being made for the fourth class employees.

Mahatma Gandhi Pulgate Bus Stand has been properly planned and designed considering all the needs. Refurbishment of shelter centre and Ganesh Visarjan at Sangam Ghat as well as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Botanical Garden are being constructed. Changes are being seen in the Pune Cantonment Assembly constituency through various development works.

Pune Cantonment Assembly Constituency being a part of Defence Department, there are restrictions and problems are being created for the Municipal Corporation and the Government for development. He assured that a meeting will be held with the Pune Municipal Corporation, Urban Development Department and all related departments in the near future regarding the implementation of the scheme in the municipal sector to the Cantonment Board, and the pending development works in the Cantonment Board will be sorted out.

A request has been made to provide land for rehabilitation of slum dwellers under SRA on railway land for construction of houses. This will provide housing to the slum dwellers and also solve the problem of encroachment. Government of India is positive about this and a decision is expected to be taken in the near future. Fadnavis assured that a solution will be found by discussing with the central government about the issue of the residents.

Chandrakant Patil said that in the last one and a half years, the development of the state has gained momentum and the government has developed many infrastructure facilities in the state and Pune. Saying that the work of Lahuji Vastad’s memorial will be completed soon, Patil said that the work of beautification of the residential building built for the employees of Sassoon Hospital and the statue of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar in Pune station area is important.

MLA Sunil Kamble said that for the development of Pune Cantonment constituency, the government has provided funds of Rs. 90 crores in the last one and a half years. The central government has started the process of merging the cantonment with the municipal corporation. That way the citizens of the cantonment area will get justice, said Kamble.
